A debate has been raging recently about whether or not the Human Race is intrinsically evil.
On one side are the Believers, who say that homo sapiens was created in God’s Image, and therefore the species can somehow be redeemed, even if it is prone to doing evil.
On the other side you have certain Skeptics who believe trying to save human beings from self-induced extinction is hardly worth the effort. The world, they say, would be better off without us.
So who is correct? Those who say a Supreme Deity wants to shape us into something better than we are now? Or those who say we are a branch of evolution gone completely awry, and the sooner we exit the world stage, the better?
There is a third possibility. Suppose God did in fact create human beings, but is now so abjectly disgusted with the way we’ve worked out, that He has pretty much abandoned us and gone on to some other world, possibly in some other galaxy, to start again. There are billions of galaxies out there, and any of them might be a good place for God’s fresh start.
